33(77%) out of 43 MLAs analysed with declared criminal cases have won with a vote share of 50% and above.

ADR and Delhi Election Watch (DEW) have analysed the vote share for the 70 constituencies in the Delhi Assembly Elections, 2020.

The MLAs of the Delhi Assembly Elections, 2020 won by an average of 54.53 % of total votes polled. In the 2015 elections MLAs won by an average of 54.58% % of total votes polled.

53(76%) MLAs won with 50% and above of the total votes polled in their constituency.

17(24%) MLAs won with less than 50% of the total votes polled in their constituency.

33(77%) out of 43 MLAs analysed with declared criminal cases have won with a vote share of 50% and above.

38(73%) out of 52 crorepati MLAs analysed have won with a vote share of 50% and above.

Margin of Victory

2 MLAs have won with a margin of victory of less than 1000 votes.

8 MLAs have won with more than 30% of margin of victory.

MLAs with Declared Criminal Cases and their Margin of Victory:

1. 26(60%) out of 43 MLAs with declared criminal cases have won against a runner up with a clean background.

2. Among these 26 MLAs, 9 MLAs have won with more than 20% margin of victory.

3. Among these, Sanjeev Jha (Aam Aadmi Party) from Burari constituency won with 39.67 % margin of victory.

4. There are 8 MLAs with a clean background who have won against a runner up with declared criminal cases. Out of these 8 MLAs, 6 MLAs have won with more than 10 % margin of victory.

Crorepati MLAs and their Margin of Victory:

1. 15 out of 52 crorepati MLAs have won against a non-crorepati runners up.

2. Among these 15 MLAs, 6 MLAs have won with more than 20 % margin of victory.

3. There are 11 non-crorepati MLAs who have won against crorepati runners up. 4 of them have won with more than 20% margin of victory.

Performance of Women MLAs:

1. Among the 70 MLAs, 8 women have been analysed.

2. All of them won with 45% and above of vote share in their constituencies.

3. Among the women MLAs, Bhavna Gaur (Aam Aadmi Party) from Palam Constituency has won with the highest vote share, i.e. 59.15 % in her constituency and 20.89% of margin of victory.

Performance of Re-elected MLAs:

1. Out of total 45 re-elected MLAs 32 have won with more than 50% of the vote share.

 

2. 13 re-elected MLAs have won with less than 10% of margin of victory whereas 12 have won with more than 20% of margin of victory.

 

NOTA

1. The NOTA button instated by the ECI in 2013 gave the voters an option of rejecting all the candidates in their constituency. Out of 92, 85,593 votes polled in

Delhi Assembly, 2020, 43,108 (0.46%) were polled for NOTA. Out of 89, 82,225 votes polled in Delhi Assembly, 2015, 35,897 (0.39%) were polled for NOTA.
