On Sunday, 40 trains left Gujarat with a total of 1.5 million foreign workers leaving Gujarat.
791 trains have been run from Gujarat till midnight on Saturday 23rd May 2020. In which 11.60 lakh foreign workers left Gujarat to go home. Gujarat is considered to be the largest migration so far. Most of these trains have run in states including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Manipur and Uttarakhand.
On 24 May 2020, 40 trains ran from Gujarat.
Due to the corona, from May 2, 2020, the work of transporting foreign workers and laborers from Gujarat to their homeland through two labor trains was started.
The trains have been run by the state government and the district administration in compliance with all the necessary rules, including social distance.
In Gujarat, workers have been repatriated to their home state to escape many hardships. This number has increased to one and a half lakh by night which Gujarat government considers a matter of pride.
Chief Minister’s Secretary Ashwini Kumar gave details.
With 4 crore workers in the country reaching the villages, there could be a sharp rise in corona cases. Corona can be reached in rural areas of states like Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, where the health infrastructure is strong. In a poor health infrastructure like Gujarat, it is difficult to reach rural areas.
