Mauritius, Guyana, Ireland, Portugal or Fiji, there is a long list of Indian-origin leaders who have been prime ministers or presidents of many such countries. Apart from India, there is no other country in the world which has been ruled by its original inhabitants. Currently governs more than 30 countries. Today people of Indian origin have become migrants today. There are currently about 40 Asian and Black MPs in politics in England.
It happened in the US in 2008 when Barack Obama was elected president. Even before Rishi Sunak, leaders of South Asian origin have reached high positions. They have also become ministers and mayors, like Priti Patel is the home minister of this country and Sadiq Khan is the mayor of London.
Britain
Indian-origin Rishi Sunak has created history by becoming the Prime Minister of Britain. Apart from Britain, six other countries are ruled by Native Indians. In seven years, he is now going to become the Prime Minister. He became Britain’s first Indian-origin and black prime minister. Britain’s Conservative Party allowed non-white and religious minorities to run for the country’s top office.
Guyana
The family of Guyana President Irfan Ali has its roots in India. He was born in 1980 to an Indo-Guyanese family. Guyana made a lot of history after becoming president in 2020.
America
America’s second most powerful leader Kamala Harris is of Indian origin. Kamala’s mother was Indian. His father was a Jamaican Christian. She is the first female vice president in US history.
Singapore
President Halimah Yacob’s father in Singapore was an Indian. Yakub is the first female President of Singapore. He has held many important positions before becoming the President.
Suriname
Chandrika Prasad Santokhi, the President of the South American country Suriname, is of Indian origin. His ancestors were from India.
Seychelles
Seychelles is a country of 115 islands in the Indian Ocean with a population of one lakh. President Wawel Ramaklawan is of Indian origin. The ancestral roots of Ramkalavan are associated with Gopalganj in Bihar.
Mauritius
The Prime Minister of Mauritius Pravind Jugnauth is of Indian origin. His ancestors are from the Indian state of Bihar. His father had passed away some time back. After this he came to Varanasi to bury his ashes in the Ganges.
