Fire incidents are increasing in Ahmedabad during summer.
The fire department is receiving an average of 25 charcoals per day. In the year 2023-24, the fire department received 2,483 fire related calls. In the year 2024-25, the number of coal calls increased to 2835. It has increased by 14 percent with an increase of 352 phone calls.
Ahmedabad, with an area of more than 500 square kilometers and a population of 1 cr, should have 50 fire stations. There will be 19 fire stations in 2025.
Two new fire stations are being built at Gota and Tragad. There are 558 employees against 750 vacancies advertised for the construction of five new fire stations. Calls are coming for rescue, rescue and bird rescue.
After the devastating earthquake in 2001, the Ahmedabad Fire Department was provided with state-of-the-art fire and rescue vehicles.

Despite two and a half decades having passed, the Municipal Administration has not been able to make any increase in the institutional schedule of the Ahmedabad Fire Department.
From March 1 to March 31, 2025, the Fire Department took action on 352 fire stations. From April 1 to April 12, 2025, action was taken on 176 fire stations.
The administration has announced the construction of new fire stations at five locations including Ranip, Lambha, Sabarmati Riverfront, Ramol-Hathijan and Shahibaug.
It costs Rs 8 to 10 crore to build a fire station and requires 50 staff.

Suicides in Sabarmati
River boats have been arranged at Vallabh Sadan to rescue people attempting suicide in the Sabarmati river. 200 rescue calls were attended during the year. Of these, 35 people were rescued. 166 people committed suicide.

45,000 calls were resolved by 20 ambulances and 16 hearse vehicles in a year. A total of 45,576 calls were attended to, including 17,282 ambulance calls and 28,294 hearse calls.
