A survey conducted by MSc students of the Department of Statistics, Faculty of Science, MS University concluded that 91 percent of Vadodara residents prefer Italian food if they want to eat fast food in a restaurant. 77 percent said they preferred to eat in Indian and 53 percent in Chinese food restaurants. While eating in a restaurant, 85 percent gave more importance to price, 54 percent to quality and 69 percent to hygiene.
Eating and drinking is a business worth 16783 crores per year. There are 1 lakh 8 thousand hotels in Gujarat. Ahmedabad has about 10,000 restaurants, hotels and food parks. According to Gujarat, there are about 50,000 food shops in the organized sector in the state. While there may be 5 lakh places selling food on trucks. This is what the Hotel Association says.
Compared to Gujarati, Punjabi, South products, foreign products are now used more.
In Italian fast food, 86 percent people said that they like pizza, 58 percent pasta, 52 percent burger and fries and 21 percent hot dog.
When it comes to eating fast food in a lorry, people prefer Chinese cuisine. The number of such people was 69 percent. Only 13 percent people like to eat Italian food in a lorry.
Like other cities, people in Vadodara also like fast food. Indian, Chinese and Italian fast food, Indian fast food dishes are more popular and Panipuri is also a favorite among the people.
Four MSc students Neetu Tiwari, Hiren Limbani, Kripali Mungra and Gautam Rasadia conducted this study under the guidance of Dr. Deepa Kandpal, professor of the department, in which the students took the opinion of 320 people living in different areas of Vadodara and age groups.
The students divided fast food dishes into three categories – Indian, Italian and Chinese. The dishes which are prepared quickly and are more popular were included in this list.
72 percent of Vadodara people like fast food and 74 percent people like to eat Indian fast food dishes. Panipuri was the first choice of 67 percent Indian dishes. In this list, 53 percent people said Vada Pav and 46 percent people said Sev Usal as their favourite. While 35 percent said that they like eating samosa more.
Most people prefer to eat fast food in the evening instead of morning or afternoon. Also, more than 50 percent people enjoy fast food at least once a week.
Chinese people eat Manchurian and Italian food more than pizza.
70 percent said that they like noodles, 74 percent Manchurian, 59 percent momos, 26 percent spring rolls and 29 percent soup.

The market for quick service restaurants i.e. restaurants serving fast food is growing rapidly in India, the growth rate of this market is estimated to be 23 percent by 2025. The fast food restaurant market is expected to reach $25 billion in 2024 and $39 billion in 2029. Gujarat has a turnover of $200 crore. Food and drink business is worth 16783 crores.
There are 1 lakh hotels and restaurants in Gujarat. In which daily business of Rs. 162 crores. There are about 6 thousand hotels and restaurants in Ahmedabad. Daily business of Rs. 8 crores.
Chole, Panipuri, Panbhaji, Vadapau and Samosa are among the most popular fast food dishes in India.

Investment of Rs. 1500 crores in 5 years Adani Group is building two premium hotels in the Ahmedabad airport complex. It will get liquor license.
The Taj Hotel Ahmedabad is the largest hotel in Gujarat on Sindhubhan Marg on S.G.Highway. The seventeen-storey Taj Skyline has 315 rooms. Inside are Shamia’s restaurant.
Feel Like Home has four hostels in Ahmedabad for 600 students. Hostel Basera Ahmedabad has 13,000 beds in about 450 places.
