Gujarat government will provide free food to 3 crore middle-class people from April 13

Gandhinagar, 10 April 2020

From April 13, 2020, 17 thousand government-approved cheap grain shops across the Gujarat state will provide free grain to 52 to 60 lakh APL-1 card holders. Out of this, 2.5 million to 3 million middle-class people will get food.

At a video conferencing cabinet meeting held on April 8, 2020, the decision was made to distribute food grains free of charge to over 60 million APL-1 ration card holders-middle-class families in April.

There will be a committee for the distribution of food grains in the village and in the city along with shopkeepers, talati or villagers, police and local leaders. The committee will keep an eye on social distancing and ensure that genuine beneficiaries get food grains.

The shopkeeper will have to register the distribution system.

The distribution of food grains has been determined from 5 days ie April 13 to April 17 according to the number of previous ration card numbers.

The last digit of the card is Nos. 1 and 2, which will be April 13, 2020. April 14 for numbers 3 and 4, April 15 for 5 and 6. Grain will be available on the 16th for the 7th and 8th digits and on April 17th for the 9th and 0th.

For those who could not get any grain during the 5 days, April 18 is reserved for them.
