CM dedicates to people hygienic Happy Street, Ahmedabad, Gujarat
Ahmedabad: The conversion of several decades old food and drink street of Law
Garden area as ‘Happy Street’ by modernizing it with all hygienic facilities at a
cost of Rs. 8.5-crore by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) was termed
today by Chief Minister Mr. Vijaybhai Rupani as an addition of new feather to the
heritage and development of the city.
The Happy Street was dedicated to the people by Mr. Rupani this evening. The
Chief Minister further stated that the gift of ‘Happy Street’ has become an
entertainment spot along with food and drink for the residents of the city. Besides
this, a cycle-track has also been developed for the children at the place. This
initiative of the AMC would also inspire the other municipal corporations of the
state to undertake similar initiatives, he added.
At the Happy Street, the civic authority has setup an arrangement to
accommodate as many as 34 food-vans to serve the hygienic foods to the
residents. The Happy Street is spread over the area of length of 325 mt and width
of 26.5 mt. The entire street has been given look of a heritage street.
The event was also graced by Ahmedabad City Mayor Mrs. Bijalben Patel,
Municipal Commissioner Mr. Vijaybhai Nehra, Deputy Mayor Mr. Dineshbhai
Makwana, MLAs of Ahmedabad city, Standing Committee Chairman Mr. Amulbhai
Bhatt, and others.
