Modi government had promised 22 AIIMS, could have done 7

AIIMS is considered to be at the forefront of providing good medical facilities in the health system of the country. Every government promises to establish AIIMS in its manifesto. The Modi government has also made many announcements regarding AIIMS. It has been said by the government to build 22 new AIIMS. So AIIMS is actively working from 2021 onwards in Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Jodhpur, Patna, Raipur and Rishikesh.

Prime Minister Modi demanded one AIIMS in every state. At present, the government is emphasizing on setting up 22 new AIIMS. It was claimed that the work is going on at full speed and the country will get a new AIIMS on time. But barely 7 is working.

AIIMS Rajkot will be a 750 bedded hospital with multiple specialties as well as a super specialty department. The cost of the construction project is approximately Rs. 1195 crore, out of which Rs. 185 crore has been allocated. The Gujarat government has allotted around 25 acres of land for the project. Will handle the arrangements for access roads, water facilities and electricity connections.

Amidst this claim of the government, a news channel filed an RTI. Tried to know how many AIIMS are active in the country. Also, how many AIIMS have been announced by the government since 2014. The progress report of AIIMS was also revealed from this RTI. Now the government has answered these questions. It was informed that 22 new AIIMS have been established by the government. So AIIMS is actively working from 2021 onwards in Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Jodhpur, Patna, Raipur and Rishikesh.

The new AIIMS to be built by the government is expected to be completed between June and October this year.

AIIMS Nagpurઃ

The AIIMS, which is being built on 150 acres of land, is expected to be ready in August this year. Presently OPD and ICU are active. If there is a preparation to launch IPD by August. 99% work of the first phase has been completed. So the work of second phase is also 91 percent done. Rs 950 crore is being spent on the construction of these AIIMS.

AIIMS Kalyani (West Bengal)

It is in progress. Some construction works have been completed but many construction works are incomplete. OPD service has been started here but only a limited number of patients are treated. 94 percent of the work of the first phase has been completed and only 88 percent of the second phase has been completed.

AIIMS Mangalagiri (Andhra Pradesh)

The work started in 2018 but at that time the government was serving in Siddhartha Medical College, Vijayawada. OPD service was started in 2019 at Mangalagiri campus. Therefore a limited IPD service was started for patients in the early 2020s during the Corona period.

AIIMS Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh)

AIIMS was virtually inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi on 24 February 2019. At present, 85.3 percent of its work has been completed. Many OPD services are also actively functioning. After this AIIMS, there is no need to take serious patients to Lucknow. He is undergoing treatment at AIIMS here.

Also, 78 percent work of AIIMS established in Bathinda, Punjab has been completed. Where 60 doctors have been appointed. However, 200 doctors are needed here. The construction work here is slow.

Work is going on at AIIMS Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh. From here the OPD service started. Here the Executive Director and 3 Academics and MS have been appointed.
