Names ashes immersion spot near Sabarmati as ‘Atal Ghat’

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijabhai Rupani led the procession of urn containing the ashes of late former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s mortal remains from Golwad in Khadia locality to Sabarmati Riverfront here today.
A large number of people, forgetting their difference of castes and creeds, joined the procession and condolence meeting, as a respect to the national leader, showering roses and chanting ‘Bharat Mata-ki Jai’.
The ashes were immersed in presence of BJP State President, Ministers, Sants and Mahants on the banks of the Sabarmati.
Rupani announced that the spot where the ashes were immersed will be developed in cooperation with Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation as ‘Atal Ghat’. He read out a poem of late Vajpayee, ‘Bharat Zamin Ka Tukda Nahi, Jeeta Jagta Rashtrapurush Hey’.
