Sample of BJP rule, 35 days of work incomplete in 35 years

As soon as he came to power, Qureshi sold the land for the park, but did not implement it.

Ahmedabad, 27 January 2025
The controversy in Jamalpur ward of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation is increasing, as public land has been sold, but illegal construction has been done on it. Instead of completing the work of selling land to Qureshi Park in Ahmedabad in 35 days in 1998, the BJP took 35 years. As soon as the BJP came to power, it sold the entire land of Kabadi Bazaar. The dispute is still going on.

Chaos in the meeting

In the coordination committee meeting chaired by Commissioner M. Thennarasan, the MLA raised objection to the land of Kabadi Market in Jamalpur. In the second meeting, the issue was dropped and officials were asked to submit evidence. The investigation of the land revealed negligence and irregularities going on for 35 years. The chairman of the law committee is BJP councilor Prakash Gurjar.

First officer
The Bharatiya Janata Party formed the first government in Ahmedabad city in 1987. As soon as it came to power, the BJP started selling land in Ahmedabad. In 1989, the last plot number 5/3 of Jamalpur Urban Development Scheme-1 was leased for 99 years. The price of one meter is only Rs. 10. 500 was fixed. The first BJP mayor was Jayendra Pandit of Kharia.

Land price 11 lakhs
Corporator Chuna Master and builders named Qureshi in partnership gave the land for Rs. 11 lakhs.

Pressure did not reduce
There was already pressure on the plot. He was openly pressurized and asked to hand over the plot. He said that the remaining amount would be paid through Qureshi Park. The pressure did not reduce.

No end to the dispute
In 1998, he again wrote a letter to the commissioner demanding that the slums built on the land be removed and possession of the vacant plot be handed over. When the pressure did not subside, a suit was filed by Quresh Park in 2000.

An undertaking was sought not to sell, mortgage, transfer or otherwise transfer the property to anyone else.

The remaining amount of Rs. 1500 per square meter was said to be paid accordingly. The plot would be given on the condition of withdrawing the claim. But possession was not given.

On 30 December 2017, the judgment was given by the opponent in favor of Quresh Park.

The plot was to be opened within three months and the contract was to be signed. If no agreement was reached, the court registrar was to be appointed to conclude the agreement.

The court ordered that no officer, engineer, supervisor or other would be allowed to work there. The bank gave a guarantee.

The corporation filed an appeal against this decision in 2028. In which the division bench imposed a fine of Rs 50 thousand. An order was issued to deposit Rs 30 lakh.

Loss of 30 lakhs against 11 lakhs
Rs. 11 lakh received against which Rs. 30 has to be deposited.

Party plot worth 2 crores
In 2016-17, the city government announced the construction of party plots here and allocated Rs 1.5 crore for it. Rs 2 crore was allotted.

New dispute
In December 2024, BJP MLA Amit Shah accused the Congress president of Jamalpur ward and his brother of building a scrap market on a plot worth crores of rupees. It is alleged that they were illegally occupying the property for years and collecting rent. Rent is being collected like a leasehold property on land worth Rs 200 crore in the scrap market. There are 8,000 war plots in Jamalpur. This dispute has arisen due to the municipality not taking possession.

29 Property dispute
Now a dispute has come to the fore between the Municipal Corporation and the Waqf in Ahmedabad. The Waqf has started proceedings to reclaim the lands it claims. A team of four members has been formed. A total of 29 places in the city are under Waqf. These claims are currently pending in the Waqf Tribunal. The file was incomplete.
