Sesame cultivation in Gujarat increased by 145 per cent, production will fall by 50 per cent, Gujarat is the highest in India

Sesame is the largest crop in Gujarat this year as compared to previous years. Sesame cultivation is generally grown on 1.02 lakh hectares. But this time it has been grown in 1.50 lakh hectares. Which is 146 percent more than the average farming. In 2019, 1.16 lakh hectares were planted. Imposed 29 percent more than last year. Thus, with the use of sesame oil and good oil prices.

The highest area is 63000 hectares in Kutch in Gujarat so, heist in India. The second highest area is Surendranagar in 32100 hectares in Gujarat. Morbi district has 17700 hectares under cultivation. There are 76400 hectares of sesame seeds in 11 districts in Saurashtra. Which is 50% of the whole of Gujarat. North Gujarat, Central Gujarat together has 10000 hectares whereas in South Gujarat there is no mole at all due to unfavorable climate of sesame.

Agriculture Department’s assumption will be wrong

The Agriculture Department of Gujarat has estimated that sesame will be harvested in 1.48 lakh hectares for the Kharif and Sun seasons in 2020-21. Plantation has taken place as expected. Also prepared an estimate of 97.62 lakh tonnes of sesame production. Also, heavy rains have adversely affected the sesame crop and have dried up in many areas.

The large disease epidemic began in September 2020. Therefore production is likely to fall by 40 to 50 percent. Sesame oil is now the second most commonly used edible oil after peanuts. According to the farmers, the mole has been severely damaged.

50% of oil is released

Gujarat produces around 659 kg of sesame per hectare. Peanut yields 2637 kg per hectare. Both these crops produce 45 to 50 percent oil. Sesame oil can produce 23 lakh tonnes.

Gujarat has the highest cultivation in India

Punjab’s RT-125 Best

RT 125 – This variety is of 90 to 120 cm height. It has 3 to 5 branches. The seeds of this variety, which ripen in 75 to 85 days, are white. Production is 9 to 12 quintals per hectare. This is characterized by the fact that entire plants, including leaves, stems and pods, turn yellow in maturity. It has good repellents. The weight of 1000 grains is about 2.5 to 3.15 grams and the oil content is 48.8 percent.

Why did farming grow

Sesame prices are getting better than other crops. Less rain. Also, stray animals do not eat sesame plants. Hence farmers have turned to sesame cultivation.

Use of sesame and oil
