Recently, the Tourism Department of the state government has released the statistics of the number of tourists in the state. It has been told that from April 1 to June 10, 2024, more than 1.35 crore tourists visited 12 tourist places in the state. At the same time, the Pilgrimage Development Board also does not have any system to count the number of pilgrims. At that time, questions were raised on the Tourism Department not giving any accurate official information on the basis of calculation of this figure.
On the other hand, in this data, Pavagadh Temple, Ambaji Temple, Somnath Temple and Dwarka Temple have also been counted as tourists among the 12 tourist places. The important thing is that the Yatra Dham Vikas Board works separately for religious places – temples – in the state, they also do not have any system of accurate calculation, so the Tourism Department has no answer as to by which method and from where and how these figures have been collected.
Tender issued for accurate counting
Now the Yatra Dham Vikas Board is going to develop a system for counting the pilgrims visiting the pilgrimage sites, so that the correct number of pilgrims can be ascertained. According to official sources of the Yatra Dham Vikas Board, a tender has been issued by the Yatra Dham Vikas Board. This tender is a pilot project through which the correct number of pilgrims visiting the pilgrimage sites can be ascertained and if this system is successful, it will be implemented at other pilgrimage sites as well.
Ahmedabad Metro also converted into a tourist destination
In the greed of fame, Ahmedabad Metro has also been converted into a tourist destination. The Tourism Department now considers the passengers traveling in the metro for business and employment as tourists. The purpose of Ahmedabad Metro is to provide safe, fast and environmentally friendly transport services to the people at affordable rates, but the Tourism Department has changed the purpose.
Reflecting Ahmedabad as a favorite destination for tourists, Ahmedabad Metro has carried all 23,06,591 passengers in April-2024 and 25,47,534 passengers in May-2024. According to the data of the Tourism Department, in the year 2023-24, 4.26 crore tourists visited Ahmedabad district and 2.25 crore tourists visited Ahmedabad city.
