Gujarat Science – 19 A new variety of rice named Oranga has been discovered by South Gujarat Agricultural University. The average production of NVS A-6150 in Gujarat is 5305 kg/ha. Which gives 12 to 16 percent more yield than other varieties.
The grains are small and thick, the number of grains is more in the legs as well as the thorns. Amylose is 25.2 percent higher. Protein is 6.7 percent and whole grains 62.8 percent.
The brown grain disease Sucra has moderate resistance to deciduous caviar.
Brown is resistant to suckers as well as moderate resistance to gabamara caterpillars, leaf-eating caterpillars and leaf litter.
For alkaline area of paddy.
In Gujarat, paddy is harvested only in the Kharif monsoon. Paddy was sown in 8.17 lakh hectares last monsoon. The Agriculture Department estimates that its production is 20.40 lakh tonnes.
This rice can be grown in 5% saline soil.
The maximum area under paddy in central Gujarat was 5.20 lakh hectares. Ahmedabad has the largest area of 1.35 lakh hectares in the entire state. Then paddy is cultivated in 1.10 lakh hectares in Anand and 1.10 lakh hectares in Kheda.
Agricultural scientists of Aarti Navsari have discovered a new variety of paddy, which gives twice the yield than before. Rice production produces an average of 2400 kg of rice per hectare. Whereas Navsari Gujarat, the new variety of Navsari rice – 8 Aarti gives 4700 kg per hectare yield. Which represents twice the average production in the state.
