10 thousand works will be done for water conservation

On April 4, Catch the Rain-Sujlam Sufalam Jal Abhiyan 2.0 was launched for water conservation. It has been more than a month now and the state government has made remarkable progress in such a short time. As per data till May 5, out of a total of 10,523 targeted works, implementation of 1,300 works has started while 317 works have been fully completed.

Mehsana leads in implementation of SSJA 2.0

Under Sujalam Sufalam Jal Abhiyan 2.0, Mehsana district has shown significant leadership in the field of water conservation and rural infrastructure. So far, 416 works have been effectively implemented in the district, which is the highest among all the districts of the state. After this, districts like Banaskantha (159), Bharuch (139), Anand (121), Devbhoomi Dwarka (114), Gir Somnath (99) and Porbandar (93) are at the forefront, which are giving momentum to the campaign. Apart from this, Botad (91), Ahmedabad (88), Navsari (74), Jamnagar (58), Junagadh (30), Amreli (23), Bhavnagar (20), Sabarkantha (20), Patan (16), Gandhinagar (12) and Panchmahal (10) have also registered active participation in the campaign.

Work on deepening lakes in 36 categories is at the forefront, work is going on on 450 out of 1859

Under Sujalam Sufalam Jal Abhiyan 2.0, work is being done in 36 different categories, in which the work of deepening the lakes has been the most active. Out of the 1859 targets set for the year 2025, 450 works are in progress and 4 works have been completed so far. Among other major activities, work is going on on 149 out of 660 targets set for borewell recharge, while work has started on 133 out of 1,990 projects for check dam desilting. A total of 826 works have been targeted for check dam repair. Apart from this, various activities like cleaning of canal structures, maintenance of storm water drainage drains and rainwater harvesting have also been included in this campaign.

Water Resources Department will implement the highest number of 5,734 works

Talking about the implementation of works by departments under Sujalam Sufalam Jal Abhiyan 2.0, the Water Resources Department of Gujarat is at the forefront with 5734 planned works, which shows the leading role of the state in water conservation efforts. Currently, 632 works of the department are actively in progress. The Rural Development Department is next with a target of 2244 works, of which 478 works have been started. Among other major departments, the Water Supply Department has proposed to implement 796 works, Panchayat and Rural Housing Department 600 works and Municipal Corporations and Municipalities 644 works.

MGNREGA tops the list of implementation methods, with 689 works implemented and 68,586 man days created

This year, under SSJA 2.0, the implementation methods have been divided into three categories, which include MNREGA, public participation and departmental works. Under the master plan of this campaign, 2240 works are targeted to be done under MNREGA, and so far 476 works have been implemented, of which 213 works have been completed, MNREGA is at the forefront.

If we talk about departmental works, then 4227 works are to be done under this, out of which 387 works are in progress and 60 works have been completed. Finally, if we talk about public participation, then a target of 4056 works has been set under this and so far 437 works are in progress and 44 works have been completed. Apart from this, 68,586 man days have also been created so far through the works done under this entire campaign.
