45 lakh NFSA family receives free food grains on the 6th day

Secretary to CM, Mr. Ashwani Kumar detailed on the free food grains distribution in the state. He said that around 45 lakh NFSA card holders in Gujarat except from Ahmedabad have received the food grains on the sixth day been provided by the state Government in the current situation across the state for the month of May.

He said that the GoG had announced to prove free food grains for the May month to NFSA card holders which include 10 kg wheat, 3 kg rice, 1 kg sugar,1 kg dal and pulses as well under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana 3.5 kg wheat and 1.5 kg rice through 17 thousand fair price shops announced by Government.

He said that 68.80 lakh NFSA cardholders are entitled to receive a total of 20 kg free food grains under State Government and Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana of Central Government, maintaining social distancing and wearing mask.

Till today, 45 lakh ration card holders have taken advantage of this free distribution of food grains. Giving details in this regards Mr. Ashwani kumar said that, a total of 3 crore 36 lakh people holding 68.80 lakh ration cards have been covered under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) and provided with wheat, rice, sugar and salt free of cost during the month of May as provided in April.

This distribution for the month of May was started by the Government on 17th May. 45 lakh ration card holders have been benefitted of this free distribution of food grains till Friday, May 22.
