In Gandhinagar Gujarat Chief Minister Vijaybhai Rupani held a fruitful deliberation meeting with chairman of Airport Authority of India (AAI) Mr. Guruprasad Mohapatra for expansion of existing airport and air-services at Mahatma Gandhi’s birth town, Porbandar to provide more facilities security agencies such as Navy, Coastguards and others.
The deliberations made in the meeting, included extension of existing runway from 1,372 meters to 2,600s meter so it can be utilized for landing and take-off of the helicopters, aircrafts of the security agencies and for commercial passenger planes with larger capacity can be operated from Porbandar for Ahmedabad – Mumbai route.
Both dignitaries also discussed about the allocation of land for constructing staff-quarters for coastguards. The AAI will prepare a report on this and will submit it to the state government.
The Chief Minister also apprised to the AAI chief that the district administration is making coordination with the AAI to allocate land for an airstrip near Rajpipla to develop Statue of Unity at Kevadia as a world tourist spot.
The duo also made deliberations on the development of international airport and infrastructural facilities at Dholera and Rajkot.
The meeting was also attended by Chief Principal Secretary Mr. Kailashnathan, Chief Secretary Dr. J. N. Singh, Principal Secretary of Tourism Mr. Haider and others.
