The Gujarat High Court has rejected the report prepared by the government committee on the issue of crop insurance compensation. The government did not listen to the arguments of the farmers. Due to heavy rains in the year 2017-2018 in the state, the crops of the farmers were severely damaged.
A survey was conducted by the state government to compensate the farmers under the crop insurance scheme. The High Court has found that the committee appointed by the government to compensate the farmers eligible for the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana did not conduct a proper survey. The High Court remarked that the government committee prepared the report without hearing the arguments of the farmers.
This report of the government was rejected by the Gujarat High Court. The High Court has said that the committee did not give an opportunity to hear the claims of the applicants who applied to the High Court. Apart from this, it has also ordered to submit a new report to the court within two weeks. The next hearing in this regard will be held on July 26.
