He says, “I went to Gujarat and saw that big companies in metro Ahmedabad city are earning lakhs of rupees from vegetable production. They don’t even have much land. One to two bigha land is being cultivated with modern method. Horticulture crops and protected agriculture companies were doing it. That’s where I decided to take up farming.”

400 meters of land
The family was surprised when Lalit showed interest in farming in 2013 after completing his MBA in marketing and finance. Traditional crops were grown in Lalit’s ancestral farm, but there was no water. The father had asked Brahm Singh for only 400 square meters of land out of 12 bighas of the family.

Failure
Green House started farming in Jodhpur in 2008, but was unsuccessful. This failure was due to the unfavorable climate. The officers of Horticulture Department were given training simultaneously. Learned the nuances of agriculture and horticulture in the research center for a month. He met many professors.

Cucumber earning 13 lakhs
The climate of western Rajasthan was not conducive to nursery and cultivation, but Lalit has set a record by cultivating 28 tonnes of cucumber in half an acre. Seeds for cucumbers were obtained from turkeys. A total of 28 tonnes of cucumber was produced in the year 2015-16. Four lakh rupees were spent in this. The first farm alone made a profit of Rs 13 lakh.

He emphasized the importance of vegetables in agriculture. Cucumber, red, yellow and green capsicum, tomato etc. started growing in the greenhouse in the field. The profit in the field of agriculture was increasing day by day.

Now also cultivate papaya, pomegranate and strawberry.

Starting the nursery in 2018, it has 500 plants of different species. One of the state-of-the-art nurseries in West Rajasthan. The nursery had a turnover of Rs 23 lakh to Rs 30 lakh initially. Then there was a turnover of 60 to 80 lakhs and now last year one crore.

In the year 2018-19, the turnover reached 35 lakhs with a profit of 40 percent. Profits on a turnover of Rs 60 lakh increased by 25 per cent to Rs 65 lakh.

Many government schemes are being received. The horticulture work at IIT Campus, Karwar, Jodhpur was achieved through a project of Tata Company. In the year 2020, Jodhpur IIT Campus got the task of making it green, which was around Rs 83 lakh. Nursery plants are taken from here from many other parts of the country.
