When Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister, the then-Minister of State for Home Affairs, Amit Shah, had announced in the Gujarat Assembly that the Congress party was involved in corruption amounting to ₹12 lakh crore.

Now that Amit Shah serves as the country’s Home Minister and Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister, they are once again raising the very same issue.

On May 22, 2026, the BJP released a video containing details regarding the corruption allegedly committed by Manmohan Singh’s Congress government up until 2014. This video is currently being posted on the party’s social media accounts by the BJP units in Rajasthan, Bihar, and Gujarat.

When the Congress party released details aimed at exposing Narendra Modi, the BJP responded by circulating—across the entire country—this video highlighting the Congress’s corruption from 12 years ago.

Over these 12 years, neither Narendra Modi nor Amit Shah has taken any action against this alleged corruption. If such corruption indeed took place, they should have investigated the matter, filed cases, and recovered the misappropriated funds. Instead of doing so, however, the issue is being utilized to serve political ends.

Such allegations were originally leveled in the Gujarat Assembly by Amit Shah, who was serving as the Home Minister at the time.

Scams totaling ₹12 lakh crore were alleged, including those involving 2G spectrum allocation, Airbus procurement, airport privatization, the coal block allocation scam, helicopter purchases, the tank procurement scandal, the Commonwealth Games, and the Adarsh Housing Society scam.

However, it now appears that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has effectively shielded the Congress party’s Manmohan Singh.

Over the span of 12 years, neither Narendra Modi nor Amit Shah has initiated any action. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) falls under Amit Shah’s purview. He has repeatedly faced accusations of misleading the public without conducting any actual investigations.

Congress’s alleged corruption has consistently been Narendra Modi’s primary election issue. Yet, if public funds amounting to ₹12 lakh crore were indeed looted, concrete steps should have been taken against the responsible Congress leaders to recover that money. However, they failed to do so. (Google translation from Gujarati; see original report)
