Tax Department has to play a key role in demolition of black money to “White Economy”

Ahmedabad : Chief Minister Vijaybhai Rupani today categorically stated that the Income Tax Department has to play a key role in demolition of black money from the country and promotion of “White Economy” in Making of New India, an initiative under taken by the Prime Minister.

In this reference, Mr. Rupani further stated that for making India an economic super power of five trillion US $, every citizen must honestly contribute through paying their taxes. The Chief Minister was speaking at a function organized to celebrate the 159th Income Tax Day by Gujarat Income Tax in Ahmedabad.

On the occasion, Mr. Rupani had honoured the leading honest tax payers as well as the income tax officials for their excellent contributions. He also launched an e-Taxpayer campaign and Facilitation Center for Youth Startups.

The Chief Minister further stated that through optimum use of technologies the Central Government is determined to setup clean economy under which honest income taxpayers get honoured and tax evaders get punishments. In the country, Gujarat is a leader in sustainable development as well as in paying tax honestly, he added.

Others who spoke on the occasion included Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Mr. Ajay Kumar Mehrotra. The event was also graced by Chief Commissioner Mr. Chhabi Anupam, Mr. Devashish Chaudhary, Mr. Amitkumar Jain of Investigation Section of Income Tax Department, and others.
