What politics is HM Amit Shah doing by making a few Hindus refugees citizens?

BJP’s foreign Hindu card in Gujarat is a fake card

There are not more than 5 thousand foreign Hindus in Gujarat

Dilip Patel

Ahmedabad, 20 October 2024

Home Minister Amit Shah granted Indian citizenship to 188 Hindu refugees from Gujarat on 19 August 2024. 90 from Ahmedabad, 2 from Anand, 3 from Kutch, 10 from Mehsana, 3 from Vadodara, 36 from Morbi, 18 from Patan, 6 from Rajkot, 20 from Surendranagar. Nothing was said about the hundreds of people who entered Gujarat from Pakistan. The police are able to catch only a few people who enter another country.

Amit Shah

On 19 October 2024, Amit Shah said in Ahmedabad that this is a very emotional moment. Till now these people were called refugees, now they will be included in the family of India. This is not just a program to give citizenship to millions of people living in the country. It is a law to give justice and rights to refugees. Till 2014, refugees were deprived of their rights. They were mistreated in neighboring countries because they were minority Hindus, Jains, Buddhists and Sikhs. Even after three generations, millions of people are thirsty for justice.

When they are saying this, it is worth checking what is the situation of refugees in the country and in Gujarat and why people from India are migrating abroad. Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has fled and taken refuge in India as a migrant. Now, new information has come to light about the situation of people who have actually settled in Gujarat from other countries.

Migrants
In December 2016, the Modi government at the Center officially said in Parliament that 2 lakh 89 thousand people in the country are migrants and they are not citizens of any country. In which there are only 22 people from Gujarat who do not have any nationality. There is no history of Indians becoming refugees abroad for political reasons.

According to the report of the Ministry of External Affairs, 1.36 crore non-resident Indians-NRIs, 1.86 crore PIOs and 3.32 crore Indians live abroad. 5 crore Indians live abroad.

People have come to India from 30 countries.

But Indians are the most in migration. In the year 2021, a total of one lakh 63 thousand Indians left the citizenship of the country. The figure of 2020 is almost double. From the year 2019 to 2021, 3 lakh 92 thousand Indians left Indian citizenship. During the five years from 2015 to 2021, 8 lakh 50 thousand people left India. In Modi Raj, by 2024, 10 lakh Indians have become foreign citizens.

In 2021-22, 1414 citizens were made citizens of the country. According to the government data of 2022, there were 4 lakh refugees in India in 2022.

In reality, there are not more than 5,000 Hindu refugees in Gujarat.

7,000 foreigners in Gujarat

According to the Home Department, about 7,000 foreigners on long-term visas in Gujarat have applied for citizenship through naturalisation. Some of them have been sent to the Union Home Ministry for necessary verification. At least 75-80% of these applicants can benefit from the Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019, under which foreigners living in India before 31 December 2014 can be granted citizenship within five years. According to a Home Department official, 5600 or 80% of the 7000 applications were filed before the end of 2014. At least 70 per cent of them are Pakistanis and include Hindus, Muslims and others.

This means that the BJP government is deceiving the people of Gujarat by pretending to work for Hindus. They are being misled by figures and sentiments.

Refugee means
Refugees are people who take refuge in another country due to fear arising from bad conditions, war, political turmoil in their country, where they do not get citizenship and due to this fear they do not want to go to their native country.

Indians abroad

Every year 25 lakh Indians go abroad. Out of which 40 percent are Gujarati people. In no other country of the world, such a large number of citizens settle abroad every year. India is number one in this matter. Every year 1 lakh people enter the US illegally, out of which 80 percent Gujaratis go by donkey route.

‘Donkey route’ to enter America

In the year 2022-23 i.e. between October 2022 to September 2023, a record 96 thousand 917 Indians were caught entering the US illegally. It has also come to light that most of the 97 thousand Indians are from Gujarat and Punjab. In 2020-21 this figure was 30,662 while in 2021-22 this figure was 63,927.

According to an estimate, 3.5 crore Indians are living abroad in the world at this time. Out of these, 50 lakh are living in America alone. 35 lakh Indians live in UAE and 25 lakh people of Indian origin live in Saudi Arabia. 15 lakh people are settled in Britain, 7 lakh in Canada. 2 to 3 lakh Indians live in countries like Germany, New Zealand, Italy, France. 60 thousand citizens of Indian origin have also built houses in China.

Agency
In India, a common man from any country gets refuge through the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). This is the United Nations refugee agency. Application has to be made from its official website. After investigation and inquiry, it will be decided whether they will be given refuge or not. If a foreigner feels that his safety is in danger and he does not want to return to his country, then he can take refuge in India. In this process, the candidate is interviewed and his documents and family information are collected.

Hindu
600 Hindus settled in Gujarat from Pakistan will vote in the Lok Sabha for the first time after 60 years. Immigrants voted in the 2017 Gujarat Assembly elections. They were given voter ID cards by the Election Commission since 2016. There are 490 voters in Ahmedabad, 89 in Kutch, 20 in Rajkot and 7 in Gandhinagar. These Hindus got Indian citizenship after 2015. They became refugees from Pakistan 60 years ago. They did not want to live in Pakistan because they felt unsafe there. They left the fight against the people of Pakistan and came to Gujarat.

In 1950, there were 50 lakh Hindus in Pakistan. 2.75 crore Muslim population. Today the Muslim population is about 18 crore, in 2019 there were 40 lakh Hindus. Some places claim that 15 percent Hindus have come down to 2 percent.

During the war between India and Pakistan between 1965 and 1971, Hindus also came to India. At the time of partition, about 11 to 13 lakh and around 70 thousand Rajput Sindhi refugees came to India during the war of 1971. In which 50 thousand refugees are living in Rajasthan and 20 thousand in Kutch-Banaskantha.

Refugee settlements were established in Rapar, Nakhtrana, Bhuj, Abdasa and Lakhpat talukas of Kutch during the Janata Party government in 1977. On 13 March 1996, the BJP government of Gujarat took a policy decision and allowed each Sodha camp to be treated as a revenue village. But till date 5 BJP chief ministers Keshubhai Patel, Suresh Mehta, Narendra Modi, Anandiben Patel, Vijay Rupani, Bhupendra Patel have not implemented that decision for 30 years.

Hindus have been migrating from Sindh for 800 years. The first wave of Sindhi migrants came to Kutch in 1147 under the leadership of Lakh Jadeja. Luhana, Bhatia, Patidar, Sodha, Rajput, Gadhvi, Koli, Bhil, Harijan, Singhi came to Gujarat.

Hindu migration from Pakistan to India has increased in the last 5 years. If this continues, there will be no Hindu left in Pakistan. BJP, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the Government of India and Pakistan will be responsible for the migration of Hindus and Hindus in India.

The secular structure and mentality of Karachi city keeps giving opportunities to Hindu minorities at every level.

Most of the Hindu population in Pakistan is in Sindh province and Karachi is its main center.

Narendra Modi has been the Prime Minister for 11 years but he never raised his voice against the atrocities on Hindus in Pakistan. Because the Pakistani Hindu who becomes a burden on India becomes a vote bank for BJP. Therefore, strengthening its vote bank is not the only solution in which BJP is interested.

Pradhan left the crop

In 1985, Ramsingh Sodha was the Minister of Minority Department in the government of Chief Minister Gausali Shah in Sindh province of Pakistan. In 2010, he left Pakistan and came to Morbi in Gujarat, even then he was an MLA. He was an MLA. After coming to Morbi, Ramsingh Sodha sent his resignation from the post of MLA. After sending the resignation from the post of MLA by fax, he settled in Nakhatrana of Kutch
