Out of 6150 smart classes, only 420 Pathshalas have started in Gujarat

Ahmedabad, 27 April 2023

2020-21-1815 Smart classrooms were approved in Gujarat out of which 420 smart classrooms were made operational. Only 23 percent work has been done. 4335 smart classrooms approved in 2021-22, none of the smart classrooms are functional. Gujarat has not been sanctioned a single smart classroom in the year 2022-23 due to dismal performance in the last two years. In the last three years, 6150 smart classrooms were approved in Gujarat. Out of which only 420 smart class rooms were started.

Modi exposed
The policy of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to deprive the poor-common-middle class children of Gujarat from technology has been exposed. The BJP government is making a big claim of allocation of crores of rupees for education in the budget allocation and depriving the poor-common-middle class children of their right to education. The education department of the BJP government, which calls itself a revolution in education, is the center of corruption. The Gujarat Congress believes so. The Gujarat model has failed miserably in education. The BJP government, which claims to be dynamic-progressive and developmental, has been able to make only 7 percent progress in three years. This is very shameful for Gujarat.

this is the situation in the country
Even the announcement made by the Central Government is totally opposite to the ground reality. 82,120 smart classrooms have been approved across the country. In which only 18,783 classes have been started. 2.40 lakh for one smart classroom and recurring grant of 0.38 lakh. The allotment is made for five years.

School closed
Out of 38000 government schools in the state, 25 percent i.e. 5612 government schools have been closed in the name of low numbers. There is a shortage of 38 thousand classes in primary schools.

A single teacher
In the BJP government, 32 thousand teachers have not been given jobs for years. Till the year 2021-22, 1657 schools in Gujarat are running on the basis of only one teacher. The situation is worse in the villages. Maximum 1363 schools out of 1657 are from rural areas alone. While the remaining 294 schools are from the urban areas of the state. In these schools, only one teacher teaches students of different classes. 14,652 schools are forced to teach students of more than one class in one class. Will Gujarat learn like this?

No internet
In the midst of the digital era, a report for the year 2021-22 in Gujarat was released recently. No internet facility in 2018 government schools in Gujarat. This does not include those schools where the net connection has been cut. That could be it.

Computers did not start, sold in junk
In Gujarat, during the period from 2005-06 to 2022-23, 7199 schools were permitted to set up computer labs. Sanction for computer labs in 1.20 lakh schools across the country. Indeed, computers are gathering dust in many schools. Box packs were not opened in many schools. Computer teachers have not been appointed. New computers bought with a grant of crores of rupees were sold at scrap prices in an auction some time back through Gujarat Informatics Limited (GIL), a Gujarat government company.

The Gujarat government spends crores of rupees every year from the state exchequer in the name of school entrance festival.

On 1 July 2022, the Government of Gujarat announced that optical fiber connectivity has been provided to 99.97 percent of gram panchayats in Gujarat. Over 35,000 km of underground cables have been laid under the BharatNet project. Digital Gujarat has been built on all fronts to realize the dream of Digital India in the direction of realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream of building a “New India” by Digital India. It is a matter of pride for Gujarat that Bharat Net Phase-II is currently being implemented in 9 states of the country with the ‘supposed’ model of the state.

Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel said that in order to realize the mantra of convenience where there is man, Gujarat has started various digital projects. Optical fiber connectivity has reached almost all the gram panchayats of the state. We are ensuring digital access of government services to every citizen of the state. Digital service bridge will work more with optical fiber connectivity. The Digital Seva Setu program was launched in 2020. With the increase in optical fiber connectivity, the Digital Service Bridge program will now gain momentum. Under this program, currently 312 services of 11 departments of the state government have been made accessible by more than 14000 gram panchayats and applications of more than 70 lakh citizens have been disposed of through it. Today, the Digital Seva Setu program providing government services at the village level to the people living in rural areas is becoming a benchmark for the country, which is a matter of great pride.
They talk big but the condition of net connectivity and computers in schools is poor.
