21000 tests of corona were done in the laboratory of BJ Medical College, in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad, 10 May 2020
The Micro Biology Lab of BJ Medical College, Ahmedabad, Gujarat is working 24 hours a day. 700 tests are done daily. So far 21000 tests of Corona have been done. This is a record in itself.
Dr. Pranay Shah, in-charge of the lab, says that 150-200 tests were done on a normal day. Corona’s transition has increased from 200 to 500, and today about 700 tests are performed.
5000 tests are done daily in 19 and 6 private laboratories of the Gujarat government.
More than 80 people work 24 hours a day.
Dr. Shah says that ‘Pooled test can also be done in a place where the corona infection is not normal. This process involves taking an identical measure of the sample from many people, collecting a specific case from each, and testing it. It determines whether the corona is positive or negative. This method is tested in many countries of the world.
This process is not possible in the hotspot areas like Ahmedabad. Here each person is tested separately. This process, called RT-PCR (Reverse Transcriptase Polymerase Chain Reaction), involves reading a cycle at 6:30 p.m. A total of 10 such bicycles are taken. This is followed by 700 tests a day.
Samples taken are placed in viral transport media and brought to the lab through a cold chain. First it is checked whether the sample is in the zip lock bag or not. The sample is then opened in a biosafety cabinet. The person wearing the PPE kit opens the sample right in the cabinet. The process is carried out and the expected result is given.
