The Government of Gujarat has entered into an agreement with Adani Ports and SEZ Limited to set up India’s largest multi-model logistics park at Virochanagar, near the automobile site at Sanand near Ahmedabad, with an estimated investment of Rs 50,000 crore. The area is 1450 acres. Prior to this, the government has announced to build such a park in Bharuch’s 72,000 hectares. Now, also telling Adani’s park is the biggest in India. Full stop on Dholera project
43,000 hectares of land is lying vacant in the Special Investment Zone-SIR at Dholera in Ahmedabad district. Modi declared Dholera as the biggest economic centre of Gujarat. 26 thousand hectares of land has been given to Dholera-SIR and 17 thousand hectares of land has been given to Adani Airport.

It means that Adani would end agricultural production by building on arable land near Sanand instead of building a logistic park at Dholera. Also, Adani is not ready to set up an airport or an industry on 17,000 hectares of land in Dholera. Such thinks is proved by the agreement made by Rupani. Nothing happened in Dholera in 17 years. Multi-model Logistics Park
Giving more information in this regard, MK Das said that the runway length of the air cargo terminal to be set up in this park will be 4.6 km. The world’s largest cargo plane will land here. The park will be a dedicated freight corridor. The park will be connected to the main ports of Gujarat. There will also be a rail freight terminal. There will be a warehouse zone in an area of 9 million sq ft. There will be an air freight station (4.5 MT), grade-A warehouse, cold storage.
Work will start in 6 months
Construction will begin in 6 months. The entire project will be completed in 3 years. There will be a business center in an area of 3 lakh sq ft. A skill development center will also be established. The warehouse will have 3.8 million square feet of textile, wholesale, e-commerce and BTS facilities. There will be bonded ware houses in an area of 9 lakh sq ft. It will have 4 lakh grade-A pelletized facility and a temperature controlled pelletized facility of 60,000 pellets.
The container yard will have TEU (twenty foot equivalent) with four handling lines with a capacity of 3.3 lakh. Facilities including steel cargo yard 4 lakh MT, car yard (30,000 MT), agri silos (1 lakh MT), POL tank farm (3.5 lakh KL) and cement silos (1 lakh MT) are available.
Sanand near Ahmedabad has seen industrial development in 10 years. The multi-model logistic park will provide direct or indirect employment opportunities to over 25,000 people.
34 projects in the country
The central government had approved to build multi-model mega logistics parks in 34 cities of the country with an investment of Rs 2 lakh crore. These include Vijayawada, Chennai, Nagpur, Bengaluru, Surat, Hyderabad, Guwahati. The projects will be developed on public-private partnership PPP basis. These include Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Bharuch, Valsad, Kandla M6 of Gujarat.
Transport costs in India are 14% of total GDP. In the US it is 8%. About 60% of the total cargo in India is transported by road. The Indian government wants to do 7 percent.
There will be 34 multi-model logistics parks in the country to reduce transportation costs, ease road traffic, reduce carbon emissions by 10%. It is likely that 100 percent foreign funds will be allowed under the automatic route
Work in Surat
The multi-modal logistic park will be integrated with the activities of National Highways Authority of India, Railways and Civil Aviation, Ministry Warehouse Corporation, Port Trust, etc. An agreement has been signed between Surat Municipal Corporation, National Highways Authority of India and Container Corporation of India at the meeting held in Delhi.
Park on 72 thousand hectare in Bharuch
A multi-model logistic park will be set up on 72,000 hectares in Dahej, Bharuch. The land has been selected by the Government of Gujarat. The Dowry Petroleum, Chemical and Petrochemical Investment Region (PCPIR) will be expanded to 4,000 acres.
Capital investment of Rs 120 crores and land of Rs 120 crores will be done for solid cargo handling facility in 35 hectares. The cost per meter of land is Rs. 14,0. The land of GIDC will be allotted in collaboration with Container Corporation of India (CONCOR).
Will be important for the handling and warehousing of blocks and loose goods. Field manufacturing Logistics and freight costs of the units will also decrease. There will be a custom bonded warehouse freight station for importers and exporters. It will have cargo collection, segmentation, packaging, repackaging, labeling, railways, and storage yards. The customs department will inspect the documents and inspect the goods. Dowry is an investment of Rs 86,000 crore in PCPIR.
Project stalled in Vadodara
The issue of allocation of land for the Rs 400 crore multi-modal logistic park project for the Container Corporation of India has been on the Rupani government’s agenda for years. It is a major collaborative project of the dedicated freight corridor project of the Railway Department. A railway line is to be built for the transportation of goods. In order to keep the volume of goods near it, the Container Corporation of India had implemented a Rs 400 crore multi-logistic park project at the cost of the road. 4350 square meters of land for the railway line passes through Gauchar.
Work continued in Assam
First in India, Jogidhopa has started construction of a 317-acre multi-model logistics park in Bongaigaon district in Assam for Rs 700 crore. Through the Brahmaputra river, air, road and rail, waterways will be provided to destinations in northeast India. The first phase will be completed in 2023. 20 lakh people will get employment.
