Rajkot’s new airport has been built on the Ahmedabad National Highway 35 km away. 4 lakh square meters of land has been acquired for construction. Survey No. 17 in Hirasar village, Garida and Doslighu villages of Chotila taluk of Surendranagar. The forest department has 1700 acres of land. Which is the highest. In exchange for that land, it was decided to give land to the forest department in Kutch.
There have been large-scale scams in the land around the airport.
The 150 acres of barren land around the government building is proving to be a gold mine. This land belonged to a builder associated with the BJP. Which has been bought even before the announcement of the airport. In the past, many such projects have been bought by businessmen or leaders associated with the government even before the announcement. This has happened here as well.
In 2018, during Rupani’s rule, a land scam of Rs 5000 crore was committed by giving 528 hectares of government land to a private person near Herasar International Airport near Chotila.
The biggest land scam in Gujarat has happened near Heerasar Airport. The biggest 800 acre government land scam was exposed in the Rupani government of Gujarat. Land worth Rs 200 crore was given away for just Rs 11 crore. Thus, two scams have happened. Another land scam took place near Heerasar in which the names of Rupani and Chandal Quartet came to the fore.
Perhaps the biggest land scam in Gujarat took place during the tenure of former Bharatiya Janata Party Chief Minister Vijay Rupani. Rupani was removed when such scams came to light. Builder Bhupendra Patel was brought in his place. Earlier, Anandiben Patel’s government had accused her family members of buying land. She was also ousted from power.
The Herasar airport scam is in billions. There was a demand to investigate the surrounding lands but both the BJP governments did not allow it to be investigated.
When the government land scam came to light, the land had to be confiscated. Two officers Vikrant Pandey, Udit Narayan were transferred.
In which the then resident Additional Collector Chandrakant ji of Surendranagar remained absconding for 52 days. Pandya was arrested. The then Deputy Collector of Chotila V.Z Chauhan and in-charge Mamlatdar J.L Ghadvi were suspended with immediate effect.
The officers involved in the misconduct are Chandrakant Pandeya as General Manager in Gujarat State Civil Supplies Corporation Limited and V.Z Chauhan was working as Deputy District Development Officer in Porbandar.
By misinterpreting the agricultural land boundary of ALC, surplus government land of Bamanbor and Jivapar villages was transferred to private individuals. A complaint was lodged with the ACB. The government suffered financial loss of Rs 3.23 crore. After 17 years, the case was again filed and the order of the Supreme Court was disregarded.
The price of this land in Jivapar village was Rs 280 crore. After the construction of the airport, its price has increased 10 times.
Three orders were passed declaring Bamanbor land as surplus land by misinterpreting the High Court order regarding 528 acres of land. Rajkot airport was to be built nearby.
In 2017, after getting back 528 acres of land from the Supreme Court under the Apex Ceiling Act, the then Chotila Mamlatdar filed a case, which gave the verdict and handed over 528 acres of land to the Girasdar. Under the Land Ceiling Act, no more than 54 acres of land can be kept. However, how Khachar got 528 acres of land is a matter of investigation.
The Mamlatdar has sent it to the Collector on August 18 for getting the amendment noted. Ordered to give all the documents related to this to the Collector. The investigation revealed that the land has been given to industrialists of Morbi and Rajkot. Five villages of Surendranagar were transferred to Rajkot district. Their revenue records were to be sent to Rajkot. During that time the documents were sent to Rajkot Collector, which led to this scam.
This land has been bought by 14 industrialists. Its value will be equal to gold after the airport is built. The government has not yet ordered an investigation into this.
Why was Dholera airport not built?
The Gujarat government has announced to build an airport in Dholera, Saurashtra, but it is getting delayed due to some unknown reasons. The airport in Ahmedabad is also getting smaller now. Therefore, an airport is to be built in Dholera for Saurashtra, Central Gujarat and Ahmedabad. (Google translation to Gujarati )
