Navsari agriculture scientist unveils new technology to remove dangerous alloin from aloe vera

Gandhinagar, 25 September 2020

The cultivation and consumption of aloe vera has increased in Gujarat. Farmers themselves can earn 3 times by making juice or jails from aloe vera. Aloe vera gives a yellowish viscous substance called alloin. Alloin needs to be reduced, because it is harmful for human. Department of PHT of Navsari Agricultural University of Gujarat, Agricultural scientists have found a simple technical method by conducting several experiments. Which is useful for farmers and producers of aloe vera juice or gel. Making juice at home is quite easy. The use of this method has been recommended by the Director of Agriculture, Gandhinagar.

New technology

This aloe vera extract technology involves peeling off the aloe vera gel and soaking it in 1.5 percent soybean pulp for 6 hours, squeezing the juice and pouring it into a bottle and heating it to 96 centigrade for 30 minutes. It is then cooled immediately. By doing this, the amount of alloin in it is reduced by 69.7 percent. The amount of juice is 52.94 percent.

New method of sweet juice of aloe vera juice

Apart from making juice, Navsari Agricultural University has also developed a new method of making aloe vera sweet juice from that juice. In the juice extracted from the alloy, 12th Brix T.S. And after maintaining 0.25% ATDT, 96 CENTIGRESS is heated for 30 minutes at heat. 47 cg for 6 months But can be maintained by acceptable quality standards.

However, the big question is whether the current manufacturers reduce the alloin element from aloe vera. Alloin does damage in many ways.

Why Aloin should be removed

Aloe vera has yellow, bitter, yellow-brown mixed colors. Are called alloy elements. Which is 0.1 to 6.6% in dry leaves. It is used as a stimulant. Which treats constipation by stimulating bowel movement. Commonly known as aloe latex. Is under the leaf and in between the gel. It is used as a bitter agent in alcoholic beverages. U.S. since May 2002 The Food and Drug Administration does not consider aloe vera to be safe. Aloe vera products are now banned in the United States as highly yellowish pharmaceutical products. Which may be carcinogenic.

Overdose can cause electrolyte imbalance, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. Aloe vera can potentially cause uterine contractions. Pregnant women should avoid taking Aloe vera products in excess of trace amounts.

Experiments on mice showed significant negative health effects without isolating the gel from aloe. These include normocytic noromochromic anemia, hypoproteinemia, and high AST levels. In several studies involving aloe vera gel, aloe vera does not cause harm but negative effects of aloe vera have been found. Excessive use of aloe vera gel can cause skin rashes, itching, redness, allergies, dehydration, loss of fat, increase of potassium in the body, weakness in the body, irregular heartbeat, low blood pressure.

Benefit of alloin

Aloin increases peristaltic contractions in the colon, which increases bowel movements.Prevents the colon from being reabsorbed by the gastrointestinal tract of the intestines. Which is useful for soft stools. It is also used to flavor wine.
