Out of 50, 44 players got jobs at the Center, including 16 players recruited in the army. But the Gujarat government has given jobs to only 6 players. The number of players registered in the field of sports in Gujarat is quite high. According to the Gujarat State Sports Authority (SAG), a total of 35 lakh 62 thousand players are registered in the state. This includes 1,23,821 men’s teams and 59,941 women’s teams.
Currently 10 to 12 lakh players are playing in Gujarat. Only 50 of them have got jobs.
Players from Gujarat have won medals in athletics. So far, 44 out of 50 players have got jobs in the Central Government and only 6 players in the Gujarat Government. Thus, the Gujarat government has proved to be completely weak in encouraging the players. Sports Minister Harsh Sanghvi has proved to be extremely indifferent in giving jobs to the players. In athletics, from 2010 till now, the best 16 players in 100 meter race to 10,000 meter race, steeplechase, marathon and decathlon competitions have joined the Indian Army. 2 players have joined the Air Force, 1 player in Central Reserve Force, 1 player in Assam Rifles, 1 player in Central Industrial Security Force and 1 player in Indo-Tibetan Border Police. 11 players have joined the Indian Postal Service after joining athletics sports. While two players have joined the Income Tax Department in Delhi, one player in the Income Tax Department in Goa, one player in Bharat Sanchar Nigam, 6 players in Railways, one player in Kheti Bank and 6 players in Gujarat Police. In Gujarat, 11 synthetic athletics tracks have been built by the Gujarat Sports Authority in the sports complexes of Ahmedabad city, Mehsana, Patan city, Sabarkantha, Panchmahal, Dahod, Kheda, Narmada Bhavnagar city and Porbandar city.
