Politics of bridge at the expense of 3 lakh motorists

Why are disputes increasing in Surat?

Internal tussle has started in BJP regarding Ashwinikumar-Utran Tapi river bridge in Surat. The proposed Surat Municipal Corporation has become a hotly debated topic in local politics and development works of Surat. For high level major bridge project in initial phase Rs. 80 crores has been fixed. Its total cost is Rs. Will be Rs 150 crore.

Feasibility report for construction of 31 such bridges has been prepared. The costliest of which is Bhedwad Junction-Pandesara GIDC near Udhna-Navsari Road in South (Udhna) Zone, Surat. The survey for construction of flyover at the junction at a cost of Rs 246 crore has been completed.

About 3 lakh vehicles will pass through here daily from Varachha, Mota Varachha, Katargam and Uttaran areas.

At present, the traffic on Amroli Bridge will be reduced by about 30 to 40 percent, which will provide a permanent solution to the problem of frequent traffic jams there.

Varachha MLA Kumar-Kishore Kanani and Katargam area corporator Bhupendra Rathod have come face to face.

In the general meeting of Surat Municipal Corporation, Katargam corporator Bhupendra Rathod objected to the high cost and necessity of the Ashwinikumar-Uttaran bridge.

In protest against this, Varachha MLA Kumar Kanani has come into the field in support of the construction of the bridge. He has written a letter to the Mayor of Surat and asked tough questions. Kanani has clearly said in the letter that the corporator of Katargam does not need to decide what the people of Varachha want, we will decide it.

The construction of the bridge will benefit the drivers of Varachha, Bada Varachha and Uttara areas.

Someone is hinting behind the bridge protest. A councilor may have some hidden vested interest. This is what the Canaanite said.
Why are these corporators not saying anything on the reservation dispute that has been going on for years in Katargam area?

bridge
It is planned to be built parallel to Railway Bridge No. 452.

The distance between two important areas will reduce.

This project is not new, this bridge appears in the 3 year budget of Surat Municipal Corporation. But this does not happen.
Despite the approval, work has not yet started at the ground level.

The long queues of vehicles currently forming during peak hours on Varachha Main Road and Amroli Bridge will be significantly reduced.

In the general meeting, Bhupendra Rathore spoke against the alignment and huge cost of the bridge. He later clarified that he was not against the bridge, but his suggestion was that the bridge should be built a little closer to the government body towards Amroli so that the houses of the local residents are not damaged due to the bridge.

There are 9 bridges in Surat costing Rs 100 crore and above.
