The central government will make available the quantity of food grains produced in Gujarat in the open market in the country.
Since it is the International Year of Millets, the government should sell Gujarat’s Millets

The central government will release 50 lakh metric tonnes of wheat and 25 lakh metric tonnes of rice in the open market. In 20022-23, Gujarat is expected to produce 105 lakh metric tonnes of food grains from a total of 45 lakh hectares of cereals and pulses. This means that the Government of India has to distribute even less food grains and pulses than is produced in Gujarat alone. 75 lakh tonnes of food grains are to be given in the country.
In Gujarat, 41 lakh tonnes of wheat has been produced in 12 lakh 93 thousand hectare fields. While 50 lakh tonnes of wheat is to be given in the country.
In Gujarat, 23 lakh 96 thousand metric tonnes of rice has been produced in 9 lakh 50 thousand hectare fields. Almost the same amount of rice is to be distributed across the country by the Government of India.
The central government has reduced the reserve price by Rs 200 per quintal. The effective price will be Rs 2900 per quintal.
The Government of India has decided that the Food Corporation of India will sell 50 Lakh MT of Wheat and 25 Lakh MT of Rice in the open market through e-auction in a phased manner under the Open Market Sale Scheme.
The reserve price of rice will be reduced by Rs 200 per quintal. Now the effective price will be Rs 2900 per quintal. The expenditure on account of fall in the reserve price will be borne from the Price Stabilization Fund.
In one year till August 7, 2023, the price of wheat has increased by 6.77 percent in the retail market and 7.37 percent in the wholesale market. Similarly, the price of rice has increased by 10.63 percent in the retail market and 11.12 percent in the wholesale market.
Gujarat has produced more food grains than it had to provide to more than 140 crore citizens of the country. Will supply wheat and rice to private traders to moderate the rise in market prices and control food inflation.
However, the government actually needed to bring 1.3 million tonnes of millet and 9 million tonnes of maize into the open market. So it was said in the article that the government is celebrating the International Year of Millets. Along with this, the production of ragi in Gujarat has reached 8.30 thousand tonnes. 46 thousand tonnes of jowar has been produced. The production of other small coarse grains has been 16 thousand tonnes. In such a situation, the farmer leaders believe that the central government really needs to sell these grains in the open market.
Because this year Gujarat has produced 87 lakh tonnes of 10 types of cereals and 18 lakh tonnes of 7 types of pulses. So farmers can start growing pulses.
Along with this, everyone is also given free food grains.
