Officers were recruited in a corrupt manner in Gujarat – Modhwadia

9-12-2021

Arjun Modhwadia, former President of Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee has alleged that the recruitment of Class 1, 2 and 3 officers of the Information Department of the Government of Gujarat was done in a completely corrupt manner through an anti-law process. By canceling the examinations and conducting re-examination through the Gujarat Public Service Commission, Sadarhu Kamalam demanded the arrest of the accomplices of the motivated recruitment scam.

Shri Arjunbhai Modhwadia, while giving information about the 10th recruitment scam of Kamaladha Information Officer class-1, 2 and 3 of Kamaladha Government of Gujarat in the last few years, said that 6 vacancies including 12 were to be recruited. According to the law, recruitment to the vacant posts of class-3 or above cadre is to be done through the Gujarat Public Service Commission only. With the intention of recruiting only for firing, the state government had decided to form a committee. In this regard, applications were invited for recruitment to the posts of Class I and Class II of State Information Officers. Around 1,200 candidates with a master’s degree in journalism had applied. The state government had appointed an external agency to conduct the examination of these candidates. 40 candidates passed in these examinations. Out of these, 102 candidates were called for interview after checking the credentials of 12 candidates.

Surprisingly, three retired officers under the extension of the Information Department of the state government were included in this interview. In addition, an outside expert had ‘announced’ from his Twitter account that he was going to sit for an interview, giving suggestions on how to prepare for the interview of an information officer. Despite the quorum of five members of this interview committee, a large number of expert members conducted interviews on different days. The chairman of the committee was not present. What was the marking scheme? And how and by whom the markers are to be given is still in the dark. Instead of having all the members of the committee question all the candidates on the same standards, different members have done this process differently.

In the committee of experts, three officers considered on extension of service after retirement from the government have played the whole game at the behest of Kamalam. The information department is in the possession of these three retired employees and these three officers have adopted this anti-law and anti-corruption method to organize Kamalam’s associates.

A candidate who works as an officer of class II as an information officer, failed twice in the examination to get promoted to class-I by giving departmental examination, but the same officer in the process passed class-I. Ranked in the top three. of direct recruitment. The other two officers of class IV have also got a place from first to tenth.

For the recruitment of Information Officer Class-III, qualification of Diploma course in Journalism was required. Eight thousand candidates had applied in this recruitment process. The responsibility of scrutinizing the recruitment process for selection was given to an external agency. In this test 1,150 candidates were declared successful and their credentials were verified. The recruitment process is not over yet. Meanwhile, the Hon’ble High Court has put a stay on the recruitment process of class I and II officers.

The selection process is done through the Departmental and Secondary Services Selection Board of the Government of Gujarat, but despite the legal provision to conduct class 1 and 2 examinations through the Gujarat Public Service Commission, what is the use of handing over these examinations to an outside agency? was the reason? Why were experts appointed only after the examinations were over? Why are women and SC/ST/OBC/ABC reserved standards not maintained? Shri Arjunbhai demanded that the state government should respond in this matter and arrest the scamsters and conduct these examinations through Gujarat Public Service Commission.
