For the third year in a row in 2020, Delhi has emerged as the most polluted city in the world. In 2020, 6 places in Gujarat have crossed the danger mark in air quality. The Swiss group IQR, which measures air quality, has announced. Measure the pollution based on the level of polluted particles in the air that damage the lungs. These particles are called PM2.5.
India has 35 of the 50 most polluted cities in the world. Of which 6 are from Gujarat. Statistics from 106 countries have been collected. Its findings are based on an annual average of 2.5 PM in the country, which is even smaller than 2.5 microns floating in the air. Continuous prolonged exposure to PM2.5 can lead to serious diseases, including cancer and heart problems.
According to a recent study by Greenpeace Southeast Asia Analysis and IQR, 54,000 people died prematurely due to air pollution in New Delhi in 2020.
India emerged as the third most polluted country in the world. This is despite the fact that pollution has been reduced due to the lockdown imposed last year. Bangladesh comes first and Pakistan comes second. Air pollution in India is at extremely dangerous levels.
This level is 14 times higher than the annual exposure guideline issued by the World Health Organization.
