Who thought that two kids playing in the coumpound of Baroda`s Jama masdjis would represent India in international cricket? Did Mehboob Khan, the Moazzan (who calls for prayar) of Masjid dreamed of seeing his illustrated sons playung in England or south Africa or newzeland? No, But, yes it happend and his dream of seeing his both talented sons playing in the international cicuit came true. It was not miracle nor any political influence that brought these two vwry talented youth into the game of cricket. Mehdi Shaikh, former Baroda Ranji Trophy player and the renouned coach of IrFan and Yusuf Pathan is full of prais for his pupils and Baroda Pride. while coaching them he always thoght of seeing young yusuf playing in the domestic tournament, but luck brought younger Irfan into the limelight and the senior yusuf was forced to wait, that was the destiny.yusuf was very sucessful in under-15 and under 19 cricket tournament, ditti with Irfan but never highkighted. Both bros represented Baroda in the senior version of cricket at the national level by playing in the Ranji Trophy. Yet the dream of Mehboob Khan was not fulfilled. It was destiny that the younger Pathan was notoced by cricket bosses in India and he was selected to play in Pakistan for jounior Indiam Team. He played, he succeed and ultimatly was picked to play for India Senior Team, but it did not deter elder brother Yusuf. he worked hard and demonstrated his skills in every department of the game and got chance to play with his young brother in international games. Father Mehboob Khan`s joy crossed all limits. Their coach Mehdi Shaikh was on the top of the world, and why not? After all his two chellas were representing what he was thinking. Thus two Baroda boys made their way into the national side and are now pride of Muslims of Gujarat.
