The State Election Commission is working on the new demarcation of Ahmedabad. In which new wards will be built in all areas of the city. There is every possibility of increase in 48 wards. After the new demarcation, the Auda area between Ahmedabad city and Gandhinagar will be abolished. The boundary of Gandhinagar will start soon after Chandkheda. The area of Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation will be started immediately after Ahmedabad. Thus Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar will become sister cities. Which will be announced in a few days.
All 8 municipalities of the state have taken a political decision to change the boundaries and change the wards. Whenever the BJP has expanded the boundaries of a city and changed the political boundaries, it has won the city and later the Gujarat Assembly elections.
The Election Commission will begin delimitation of new wards in July.
The state government has directed all the municipal corporations to speed up demarcation of the newly merged areas of the municipal corporations to complete the ward reorganization process in the metros in September before the 8th Manpa local elections in December.
The process of amalgamation of new areas in the municipal corporations in Gujarat has been initiated by the local bodies with the approval of the state government.
Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Rajkot, Bhavnagar and Gandhinagar municipal corporations in Gujarat have completed the process of merger of new areas in three months.
