રાજ્ય ચૂંટણી પંચ દ્વારા અમદાવાદના નવા સિમાંકનની કામગીરી કરી રહ્યું છે. જેમાં શહેરના તમામ વિસ્તારમાં નવા વોર્ડ બનાવવામાં આવશે. 48 વોર્ડમાં વધારો થઇ શકે તેવી પૂરેપુરી સંભાવના છે. નવા સિમાંકન બાદ અમદાવાદ શહેર અને ગાંધીનગર વચ્ચે ઔડા વિસ્તાર નાબુદ થશે. ચાંદખેડા બાદ તુરંત જ ગાંધીનગરની હદ શરૂ થશે. અમદાવાદ પછી તુરંત ગાંધીનગર મહાનગરપાલિકાનો વિસ્તાર ચાલુ થઈ જશે. આમ અમદાવાદ અને ગાંધીનગર સીસ્ટર સિટી બની જશે. જે અંગે થોડા દિવસમાં જાહેરાત થશે.
રાજ્યની તમામ 8 મહાનગરપાલિકાઓમાં હદ ફેરફાર અને વોર્ડ ફેરફાર કરવાનો રાજકીય નિર્ણય કર્યો છે. ભાજપે જ્યારે પણ કોઈ શહેરની હદ વધારી છે અને રાજકીય સિમાંકનમાં ફેરફારો કર્યા છે ત્યારે જે તે શહેરની અને ત્યાર પછીની ગુજરાત વિધાનસભાની ચૂંટણી જીતી છે.
જૂલાઈમાં નવા વોર્ડ સિમાંકન માટે ચૂંટણીપંચ કામગીરી શરૂ કરી દેશે.
ડીસેમ્બરમાં યોજાનાર 8 મનપાની સ્થાનિક ચુંટણીઓ પૂર્વે સપ્ટેમ્બર સુધીમાં મહાનગરોમાં વોર્ડ પુનર્ગઠન પ્રક્રિયા સંપન્ન કરવા મહાપાલિકાઓના નવા ભળેલા વિસ્તારોનું સીમાંકન ઝડપથી પૂર્ણ કરવા રાજ્ય સરકારે ઝડપી કામગીરી હાથ ધરી તમામ મહાપાલિકાઓને સુચના આપી છે.
ગુજરાતમાં મહાપાલિકાઓમાં નવા વિસ્તારોને ભેળવવાની પ્રક્રિયા રાજ્ય સરકારે મંજૂરી આપતા સ્થાનિક સંસ્થાઓએ સીમાંકન, વોર્ડ પુનર્ગઠન સહિતની કામગીરી આરંભી ગ્રામ પંચાયતોની મિલ્કત તેમજ રેકોર્ડ, વાહનો કબ્જે લેવા સહિતની પ્રક્રિયા હાથ ધરી છે જે સપ્ટેમ્બર સુધીમાં પૂર્ણ થવાની શકયતા જોવાઈ રહી છે.
ગુજરાતમાં અમદાવાદ, વડોદરા, સુરત, રાજકોટ, ભાવનગર અને ગાંધીનગર મહાનગરપાલિકાઓમાં નવા વિસ્તારોને ભેળવવાની અત્યંત કઠીન ગણાતી પ્રક્રિયા ત્રણ મહિના દરમિયાન સંપન્ન કરી છે. આગામી ડિસેમ્બરમાં ચૂંટણીઓ યોજી શકાય તે માટેની તમામ તૈયારીઓ શરૂ કરી છે. ચૂંટણી હાલના સંજોગોમાં મોકૂફ રાખવાની જરૂર નથી.
આમાં મોટાભાગના
નવા વિસ્તારોના કબ્જા લેવાની પ્રક્રિયા રાજકોટ, જામનગર, ભાવનગર, સુરત, વડોદરા, ગાંધીનગર, જૂનાગઢ, અમદાવાદ મહાનગરપાલિકામાં શરૂઆત કરી દીધી છે. આગામી જૂલાઈના મધ્ય સુધીમાં આ પ્રક્રિયા પૂરી થતાં જ નવા વોર્ડ સીમાંકન માટે રાજ્ય ચૂંટણીપંચ કામગીરી શરૂ કરી શકે છે. આ કામ સપ્ટેમ્બર સુધીમાં સંપન્ન થઈ જશે.[:en]The State Election Commission is working on the new demarcation of Ahmedabad. राज्य निर्वाचन आयोग अहमदाबाद के नए सीमांकन पर काम कर रहा है। जिसमें शहर के सभी क्षेत्रों में नए वार्ड बनाए जाएंगे। 48 वार्डों में बढ़ोतरी की पूरी संभावना है। नए सीमांकन के बाद, अहमदाबाद शहर और गांधीनगर के बीच औडा क्षेत्र को समाप्त कर दिया जाएगा। गांधीनगर की सीमा चंदखेड़ा के तुरंत बाद शुरू होगी। गांधीनगर नगर निगम का क्षेत्र अहमदाबाद के तुरंत बाद शुरू किया जाएगा। इस प्रकार अहमदाबाद और गांधीनगर बहन शहर बन जाएंगे। जिसकी घोषणा कुछ दिनों में की जाएगी।
राज्य की सभी 8 नगरपालिकाओं ने सीमाओं को बदलने और वार्डों को बदलने के लिए एक राजनीतिक निर्णय लिया है। जब भी भाजपा ने किसी शहर की सीमाओं का विस्तार किया है और राजनीतिक सीमाओं में परिवर्तन किया है, उसने शहर और बाद में गुजरात विधानसभा चुनाव जीते हैं।
चुनाव आयोग जुलाई में नए वार्डों के परिसीमन का काम शुरू करेगा।
राज्य सरकार ने सभी नगर निगमों को दिसंबर में 8 वें मनपा स्थानीय चुनावों से पहले सितंबर में महानगरों में वार्ड पुनर्गठन प्रक्रिया को पूरा करने के लिए नगर निगमों के नए विलय वाले क्षेत्रों के सीमांकन को तेज करने का निर्देश दिया है।
गुजरात में नगर निगमों में नए क्षेत्रों के समामेलन की प्रक्रिया स्थानीय निकायों द्वारा राज्य सरकार की मंजूरी के साथ शुरू की गई है।
गुजरात में अहमदाबाद, वडोदरा, सूरत, राजकोट, भावनगर और गांधीनगर नगर निगमों ने तीन महीनों में नए क्षेत्रों के विलय की प्रक्रिया पूरी कर ली है। अगले दिसंबर में होने वाले चुनाव के लिए सभी तैयारियां शुरू कर दी गई हैं। वर्तमान परिस्थितियों में चुनावों को स्थगित करने की आवश्यकता नहीं है।
इनमे से ज्यादातर राजकोट, जामनगर, भावनगर, सूरत, वड़ोदरा, गांधीनगर, जूनागढ़, अहमदाबाद नगर निगम में नए क्षेत्रों पर कब्जा करने की प्रक्रिया शुरू हो गई है। जैसे ही जुलाई के मध्य तक प्रक्रिया पूरी हो जाती है, राज्य चुनाव आयोग नए वार्डों के परिसीमन का काम शुरू कर सकता है। सितंबर तक काम पूरा हो जाएगा।[:]
