[:en]Gujarat CM Mr. Vijay Rupani said the impending threat from the cyclone Vayu has moved away from the Gujarat coast towards Oman, thanks to invocation of divine blessings of Bhagwan Somnath, Dwarkadheesh Krishna and Harsiddha Mata.

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani reviewed all aspects of impending cyclone Vayu in the Arabian Sea closing-in towards the Saurashtra-Kutch coast at a high-level meeting at the State Emergency Operation Centre here this evening.

Even though the cyclone has taken a turn away from the coast, he said the four coastal districts of Dwarka, Porbandar, Gir-Somnath and Amreli are still on extra high-alert, in case
of any eventuality.

As per the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) latest bulletin, he said that the cyclone
that was likely to hit the Gujarat coast seems to be instead moving away in the sea towards Oman. However, he said, the high-alert issued earlier from the cyclone for the ten coastal districts will remain in force till another 24 hours (Friday evening) as a precautionary measure.

The schools and colleges in coastal areas which were ordered to remain closed till Friday will also remain so as per schedule.

Briefing mass media about the outcome of the meeting, Rupani said the entire administration will remain stand to till 8 a.m. on Friday (June 14, 2019). All the 2.75-lakh
people who have been shifted from the low lying areas in the coastal belt to safer places
will remain in the shelter till then.

The high-level committee will review the situation on Friday morning to decide appropriate
future course of actions. He asked the administration to remain alert tonight as a
precautionary measure. All the Guardian Ministers, Guardian Secretaries and other
functionaries who were assigned different districts will also stay overnight tonight at
respective districts.

He has ordered intensive and extensive monitoring of the movement of the cyclone every
two hours, and to keep updating the officials, in case any situation arises. He said the
electricity supply has been restored to most of the villages which was switched off as a
precautionary measure.

He also thanked the people, non-government organizations, government machinery and karma yogis for their relentless efforts that the danger seems to be over without loss of any life and property.[:]
