As part of the prisoner reform and welfare, new initiatives are being taken up by The Vadodara Central Jail. Recently, irrigation facilities were introduced at the jail-owned area at the back of the jail, which is used for irrigation, to save water and improve land. Now, as a further step, organic farming has been started.
Briefing reporters, Jail Superintendent Baldev Vaghela said that a large number of plant-borne dry organic wasteis are collected in the jail wadi. It is being made with a mixture of buttermilk and organic fertilizer. Thus, the disposal of waste has been made easier and waste is being made as a waste-like fertilizer. Besides, the waste is combined with cow urine, round, buttermilk and flour to make liquid organic manure which will be nourishing agriculture.
