The term of Tax Reconciliation Scheme-2018 has been extended for three months

Gandhinagar, 17 June 2020

This scheme of Gujarat Government has received a very wide response from the business community and an estimated 37700 applications for 51000 recovery cases have been received under the Reconciliation Scheme.

A statewide lockout has been announced since March 23 due to the Kovid-19 epidemic, leaving many traders unable to pay the first installment and most traders unable to pay in April and May. The government has set July 31, 2020 as the deadline to pay the first installment, so that the business community is not deprived of the benefits of the lockdown plan despite the overwhelming response to the settlement plan. Therefore, the merchant class who is not able to pay the first installment can avail the benefit of the first installment payment plan. Also traders who have paid the first installment but cannot pay the second installment can also pay the second installment till this date and the subsequent installments will be paid in the months of August and thereafter. Merchants are thus given a period of more than three months to pay the installment amount under the settlement scheme. Other provisions of the resolution have been retained.
