Gujarat BJP destroys public property by 0 runs with political googly!
Ahmedabad 21 October 2026
Well-known retired cricketer Yusuf Pathan, who left Mamata Banerjee’s party Trinamool Congress (TMC) a few months ago, has been given Rs. A plot worth Rs 20 crore has been gifted. Trinamool Congress MP from Berhampur Lok Sabha constituency of West Bengal. After joining the other party, Modi and Amit Shah have given a gift by breaking the policy rules and ignoring the criticism of the High Court.
Yusuf Pathan wanted to get a government plot near his bungalow in Vadodara, but the government was still not happy with it. Now half of the plot has been ‘gifted’ to them and the other half of the plot has been given at a discounted price of 45 per cent. Yusuf Pathan has become pure by leaving behind the charitable love of the story.
According to the Gujarat government’s August 13 proposal, 500 square meters of land from the plot will be allotted as a gift to Pathans for residential purposes. The remaining 478 square meters of land will be given at a concessional rate of 55 percent of the value determined by the evaluation committee of Vadodara Urban Development Authority (VUDA) on March 17, 2026.
of 978 sq.mt in Tandalja area of Vadodara, priced at Rs. Plots worth Rs 20.53 crore have been allotted. Out of 978 square meter land, 500 square meter land has been given to Yusuf Pathan as a free plot for residential purpose and the remaining 478 square meter land has been given at 45 percent less than the fixed price. Pathan will have to pay only 55 percent of the price.
Nearby is the famous white bungalow of the Pathan family, where Yusuf Pathan lives with his family, which also includes his younger brother and former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan.
The Gujarat government has taken the decision as a special case. This will not be considered exemplary in future. In return, the government will give another land to Vadodara Municipal Corporation.
The meeting of the Standing Committee and General Board of Vadodara Municipal Corporation will approve this proposal.
Gujarat High Court
Yusuf Pathan had filed an application in Gujarat High Court in this matter, which he has withdrawn.
Yusuf Pathan wanted to lease a plot near his house in Vadodara, but the Municipal Corporation was not ready to give him this 978 square meter plot. VMC had also issued a notice to Yusuf Pathan two years ago for forcibly occupying the government plot.
Although this plot was not legally allotted to Pathan, compound walls and sheds were built on it. So former Vadodara BJP corporator Vijay Pawar raised this matter. He made a written complaint to Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on 21 June 2024. So Vadodara Municipal Corporation issued a notice to Yusuf Pathan asking him to remove the pressure. Yusuf Pathan went to Gujarat High Court against this notice.
Giving an official statement, Vadodara Deputy Municipal Commissioner Suresh Tuvare said, “The plot is completely owned by the corporation. Yusuf Pathan has put pressure on the plot by building a compound wall. We have issued a notice to remove this pressure, against which he has moved the High Court.”
On June 8, the High Court questioned Pathan as to how he took possession of government land when the land was not legally allotted or the amount was not paid. The High Court raised questions on the role of municipal officers.
Pathan’s lawyer sought time to present his arguments citing the state government’s policy on allotment of land to international cricketers. However, Yusuf Pathan withdrew his appeal from the court on August 31, 2026.
On 21 August 2025, Gujarat High Court rejected Yusuf Pathan’s petition. The stand of the BJP rulers in the High Court was clear that since the Pathans have grabbed the land, it will have to be vacated. Gujarat Government and Vadodara Municipal Corporation have said that Pathan has grabbed the land without paying even a single rupee, hence we will also take legal action against him. The High Court accepted this argument and rejected Pathan’s petition.

politics
This is another proof that BJP has nothing to do with morality or principles and is only interested in politics. The people who have tied the leftism down do not understand this but this is the reality.
When Mamata Banerjee was the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Yusuf Pathan was associated with her. Yusuf Pathan won the Behrampur seat as a TMC candidate in West Bengal in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Defeated Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Choudhary was elected MP five times.
Soon after, in June, the BJP-ruled Vadodara Municipal Corporation issued a notice to Pathan regarding pressure on the plot.
In June 2026, the BJP won the assembly elections in West Bengal, soon after 20 TMC MPs left the party and joined the Nationalist Citizens Party of India (NCPI), including the defection of Yusuf Pathan.
After the assembly elections in West Bengal, many leaders including Yusuf Pathan, Kakoli Ghosh met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. Then on June 14, 2026, they merged with a lesser known party called NCPI. Pathan has been appointed Vice President of NCPI. NCPI was not very famous in public life before the joining of the MP who had left TMC.
Two months after Yusuf Pathan parted ways with TMC, the state government spent Rs. Gave a gift of Rs 20 crores.
The mentality of BJP is like ‘Ame kari e leela ne bijyan kare e chinalalo’ and
A recent example of this involves cricketer Yusuf Pathan.
The Gujarat government has completely shifted its stance regarding a piece of land linked to Yusuf Pathan. There was a time when the BJP-led administration was pursuing a case against Pathan, alleging that he had encroached upon government land—going so far as to threaten action under ‘land grabbing’ laws. Now, however, they have effectively capitulated to him.
**No Auction Took Place**
The land in question falls under ‘Town Planning Scheme No. 22, Final Plot No. 90.’ In July 2016, the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) began preparations for a public auction of this land, setting the price at Rs 2.10 lakh per square meter. Based on this, the estimated value of the land amounted to Rs 20.5 crore.
When questions were raised in the General Board regarding the alleged encroachment on this land, the proposal for the auction was withdrawn. Board members argued that the land could not be allotted to anyone until the dispute concerning the encroachment was resolved. Now, the Land and Estate Department has initiated the process to seek approval from the General Board through the Standing Committee.
Back in 2012, Pathan had submitted an application to the VMC requesting this vacant land on a 99-year lease—without any public auction. He argued that, for security reasons, the land should be allotted to him, given its proximity to his bungalow. Now, 14 years later—following political shifts—further action has been taken in this matter.
At that time, the VMC’s Standing Committee and the General Board were prepared to allot the land to Pathan. The land was valued at approximately Rs 5.6 crore, and Pathan was willing to pay that amount. However, the Urban Development Department did not agree to the direct allotment of land without a public auction.
In July 2026, a citizens’ group called ‘Vishwamitri Bachao Samiti’ demanded the removal of alleged encroachments on government land. The committee argued that before auctioning the plot, the VMC (Vadodara Municipal Corporation) should clear the alleged encroachments and take physical possession of the land.
The committee estimates that the VMC could recover approximately Rs 7.5 crore for this alleged occupation, which has reportedly lasted for about 14 years. This calculation is based on a rate of Rs 15 per square meter per day for the temporary use of an open Town Planning (TP) plot. It should be noted, however, that this is the committee’s own estimate and not an official recovery amount determined by the municipal corporation.
According to a senior VMC official, the issue of charges for the alleged encroachment and the duration of the occupation will need to be resolved separately. The municipal corporation has not yet received any specific instructions in this regard. The official further stated that discussions will be held with Pathan to determine the amount he would be required to pay to acquire the land at a concessional rate. Varsha Vyas is the chairperson of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation’s Standing Committee. This proposal is expected to be approved at the Standing Committee meeting scheduled for October 23. Vijay Pawar, a former BJP councillor from Vadodara who brought this entire matter to light, stated, “A proposal regarding this plot was introduced in 2012 and passed by the General Body. Subsequently, approval was sought from the state government. In 2014, the state government responded that the plot could not be allotted without an auction; that is why we had raised this issue. Now, if the state government itself is prepared to grant this plot to Yusuf Pathan, then nothing can be done. The government is supreme. Therefore, there is no point in opposing this matter any further.”
Arun Mahesh Babu is the Municipal Commissioner of Vadodara.
Having passed through the BJP’s ‘washing machine,’ Yusuf Pathan has now become ‘clean’ and ‘pure.’ Previously, because Pathan was associated with an ‘impure’ figure like Mamata Banerjee, the BJP had filed cases against him and made strenuous efforts to reclaim the plot. However, the moment Pathan parted ways with Mamata and joined the BJP, all his sins were washed away. Pathan has become so ‘pure’ that the BJP is now gifting him a piece of government land, served up on a platter. The story of Yusuf:
Yusuf Khan Pathan was born on November 17, 1982, into a Gujarati Pathan family in Baroda, Gujarat.
He made his first-class cricket debut in 2002 as a right-handed batsman and a right-arm off-break bowler. His younger brother, Irfan Pathan, was also an Indian cricketer. Pathan retired from all formats of cricket in February 2021. He was part of the Indian team that won the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 Cricket World Cup.
Personal Life
Yusuf Pathan is the elder brother of Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan.
On March 27, 2013, Yusuf married Afreen Khan, a physiotherapist from Mumbai. They have a son. He has been a supporter of “YAIF” and its mission, “Youth Against Rape.”
career
After stellar performances in the 2007 Deodhar Trophy and the Inter-State Domestic T20 competition held in April 2007, Pathan was selected in the Indian squad for the first ICC World T20 held in South Africa in September 2007. He made his T20 International debut in the final match against Pakistan. He opened the innings for India and scored 15 runs.
After his strong performance in the IPL, he was selected in the Indian One Day (ODI) team. Although he took part in all the matches of the Kitply Cup and Asia Cup, he got to bat only four times and did not perform well with either bat or ball. Subsequently, he was dropped from the series against Sri Lanka. He performed well in domestic cricket and was again selected for the ODI series against England in November. In the second ODI against England—which coincided with his 26th birthday—he scored a half-century (50 runs) in just 29 balls.
Yousuf made his One Day International (ODI) debut for India against Pakistan on 10 June 2008 in Dhaka. He became a regular part of the national ODI team, although he was not selected in the Test team.
Even though Pathan could not repeat the same performance in the second season of the IPL, he was still included in the squad for the 2009 ICC World T20 to be held in England.
He was selected in the Indian team for the championship. In India’s second Super 8 match, he scored 33 not out off 17 balls against England. Despite his innings, the team lost the match and were eliminated from the tournament without reaching the semi-finals. He made his international debut in the final of the 2007 ICC World T20.
In late 2009, Pathan was dropped from the limited-overs (ODI and T20) squad due to continued poor performances.
In the final of the 2010 Duleep Trophy, Pathan scored a century in the first innings and a double century in the second innings. His team, West Zone, defeated South Zone by three wickets. Pathan scored 108 runs in the first innings and scored unbeaten 210 runs in 190 balls in the second innings, helping his team achieve the huge target of 536 runs. This was the largest successful run chase in the history of first-class cricket, setting a world record.
Pathan’s aggressive innings destroyed the New Zealand bowling attack. He scored unbeaten 123 runs on 96 balls. With this, India managed to achieve the huge target of 316 runs with seven balls to spare, giving the hosts a 4-0 lead in the series. He was chosen ‘Man of the Match’ for his brilliant performance. During his maiden ODI century, the all-rounder hit seven fours and seven sixes. With his help, India chased down New Zealand’s challenging score of 315-7 with seven balls to spare at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
In the MTN ODI series played against South Africa before the 2011 World Cup, he performed brilliantly in a match played in Pretoria. He played a brilliant inning of 105 runs in just 70 balls, which included 8 fours and 8 sixes. Although India lost that match, his performance was highly praised. During this innings, he completed his century in 68 balls—the sixth fastest century by an Indian, and the second fastest century by an Indian outside the subcontinent. Thanks to his consistent good performances, he was included in the Indian squad for the 2011 World Cup. Apart from this, in the 2010 IPL he scored a century in just 37 balls against Mumbai Indians. Although Yusuf’s performance at the World Cup was subpar, he was ultimately part of the winning team and received a winners’ medal and other honours.
