The PDP alleged that the BJP was occupying land in the state instead of ensuring the welfare of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The PDP pledged that the political parties of mainstream Kashmir would unanimously unite to fight for the identity, autonomy and special status of Jammu and Kashmir. The President of the National Convention, Dr. The announcement was made on the eve of repeal of Article 370 at Farooq Abdullah’s residence.
The next day, when Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced the removal of Section 370. Leaders of all political parties in Kashmir and several leaders in Jammu were arrested. Were released after months of detention. Written statements were taken from him stating that he would not participate in any demonstration or political activity. Subsequently, Farooq Abdullah, leader of the National Council of Jammu and Kashmir (NC) and his son Omar Abdullah, former Chief Ministers of Jammu and Kashmir were released.

Leaders like Omar and Farooq Abdullah have been silent since their release. Altaf Bukhari, who has turned from business to politics to replace silent leaders and jailed leaders, has formed a new political party. His party conforms to the policies of the Center, unlike the established parties National Council and PDP.
It remains to be seen how the political parties in the valley will continue their political activity after allowing all their leaders to resign. Controversial political ideologies are less likely to form. Despite the detention of leaders like Mehbooba Mufti, her daughter Iltija Mufti remained open against the removal of Section 370. Similarly, senior PDP leader and Mehbooba confidant Nawam Akhtar had recently moved out of his government residence.

These incidents do not support the normalization of political activities in Kashmir. There will be no politics in Kashmir until a different tone is heard from India. Although the leaders want to start political activity, the jail stops them.
